Reading is for the mind, Writing is for the soul.
How do you start a conversation or discussion without asking a question? What is your favorite way to get a person talking?
A compliment can work to ease a person into conversation as long as you sincerely like their hair, earrings, or whatever. If nothing else the pleasantness of recieving admiration often lowers a person's guard.

I just start babbling. LOL I can talk the paint off a truck. lol. Gosh, you smell nice. Love you hair. It sure is nice out today.

I pretty much just start talking. If I treat them like an old friend from the begining, they tend to open up a little. And also, always treat them like an equal. I never talk down to them.
